OptiView Reporter works with your OptiView Integrated Network Analyzers and Workgroup Analyzers to provide documenting and trending capabilities from one central location.

The OptiView hardware agents automatically perform detailed device, VLAN and network discovery, problem identification, and infrastructure device analysis. This information, in turn, is automatically imported into OptiView Reporter for reporting, trending, and event notification.

Generate an email, page or SNMP trap alert when problems are discovered by the analyzers.

OptiView Reporter's seamless integration with Microsoft® Office Visio® diagramming program allows you to create maps showing the links between your servers, switches routers, and hosts.

Knowing who and what is happening on your network allows you to quickly resolve the most complex network problems.

OptiView Reporter provides the detailed information and quick network visibility that you need to resolve network problems smarter and faster. When problems occur locally or at remote sites, the guesswork is eliminated; you know what's out there, what it's doing, and how it all interconnects. With a simple click, you can immediately access remote OptiView analyzers for real-time analysis and troubleshooting.

OptiView Reporter gives you more ways to look at your network:

Enterprise network overview

Get an at-a-glance summary of each of your local and remote OptiView analyzers and see the network as they see it. How many devices are out there? What kinds of devices are they? What problems have they discovered? What is the bandwidth utilization on key LAN or WAN links? The remote hardware agents know, and now you know too.

Detailed device view

ユ Device types: key devices, servers, routers, switches, printers, Cisco VoIP devices, and others including managed wireless access points

ユ Names: DNS, SNMP, IPX® and NetBIOS® machine names

ユ Addresses: IP addresses and subnet masks, IPX, and MAC addresses

ユ Interfaces: type, speed, state, MTU, slot and port, VLAN ID, and virtual circuit descriptions

ユ Protocols: IP, IPX, and NetBIOS protocol and configuration information

ユ SNMP information: name, location, contact, and description

Interface trending view

Select a device and interface to see utilization, broadcasts, collisions, errors, and utilization peaks for the last hour, day, week, month, three months, six months, or one year. Granularity ranges from two to 10 minutes depending on the selected history interval. Interfaces can be quickly sorted by I/F index, utilization, broadcasts, errors, or collisions. LAN and WAN errors, alarms and utilization details are available in the trending view along with interface configuration information.

Key device view

Gain one-click visibility into the status of all of your key devices configured on the hardware agents. These devices can include servers, switches, routers, or any other device you choose. This view shows you the green/red, up/down status of each device, name and address information, as well as when the last state change occurred.

VLAN visibility

Most network analyzers and troubleshooting tools have limited visibility in today's networks: usually a single broadcast domain or VLAN. OptiView Reporter, however, takes advantage of the VLAN Vision on the OptiView Integrated Network Analyzer or OptiView Workgroup Analyzer which extends discovery beyond the broadcast domain or VLAN boundaries. These analyzers act as data sources for OptiView Reporter, and their extended discovery information can be imported into OptiView Reporter for mapping and reporting.

Automated reporting and mapping

OptiView Reporter greatly reduces manual report generation, asset discovery and management, and network diagramming time and effort.

Reports include:

ユ IP, IPX, and NetBIOS Inventories

ユ Switch Detail

ユ Trendable Interfaces

ユ Trended Interfaces

ユ Problem Log

ユ Protocol Mix

ユ Top Protocols by Host

ユ Top Talkers

ユ VLAN Inventory

This fast, easy, and accurate documentation can be generated on-demand or at a user-defined, scheduled interval. Reports can be saved in a variety of formats such as Adobe® Acrobat, Crystal Reports, HTML, XML, Microsoft® Excel, Microsoft Word, and comma-separated. OptiView Reporter's built-in Web Server lets you remotely view archived reports and maps.

Seamless integration with your Microsoft Visio mapping software allows you to create maps showing the links between your servers, routers, hosts, switches and hubs. Map generation is fast and easy. Just select the map you want and OptiView Reporter does the rest.

The following network maps are available:

ユ Switch (Spanning Tree) Diagram

ユ Server Connections in a Switched Network

ユ Router Connections in a Switched Network

ユ Fluke Networks Tool Connections in a Switched Network

ユ Printer Connections in a Switched Network

ユ Single Switch Detail

- Routers, Switches, and Servers

- Printers

- Hosts

ユ Device Connections for VLAN

ユ Discover new devices on the network and where they are connected

ユ Analyze device connection paths and identify bottlenecks with Trace SwitchRouteル

ユ Ensure critical TCP application ports are available and responding

ユ Receive error and event notification via email, pager, or SNMP traps

ユ Uncover device configuration problems such as duplicate addresses or incorrect subnet masks

OptiView Reporter, working in concert with your OptiView Integrated Network Analyzers and Workgroup Analyzers, allows you to actively monitor and document the performance of your network ヨ giving you the visibility you need to keep it running at peak performance.
