FrameScope 802 Network Analyzer
FEATURES
TESTS NETWARE SERVER REACHABILITY AND CONFIGURATION Quickly tells you
which Netware servers and print servers are reachable from any outlet in your
network and which frame types must be used to communicate with them. Rapidly
determine if log-in problems stem from the workstation, the network, or a
misconfiguration between the server and workstation shell.
DEBUG INTERNETWORKING PROBLEMS WITH POWERFUL PING TOOL Runs Ping tests to
quickly verify the two way transmission integrity of any path through your
internet, exercising all cabling, hubs, routers and WAN links in between the
test location and any other point. Characterizes delay to identify the
thoughtput problems on WAN links.
INTEGRATED LINK TESTING IDENTIFIES PHYSICAL LAYER PROBLEMS Identify basic
cabling problems during any troubleshooting operation with the FrameScope's link
testing tools. Any serious cable problems can be analyzed in depth with a
WireScope, a family of companion testers that can test a comprehensive range of
cable performance parameters up to 100MHZ.
ALL ERRORS AND TRAFFIC STATISTICS FOR ALL STATIONS View top talkers and
top error generators. Quickly identify which user is generating the most errors
or traffic, and which error types are most prevalent on your Ethernet
network.
SIMULTANEOUS TRAFFIC GENERATION AND NETWORK MONITORING Generate traffic
loads while simultaneously monitoring the network. Any or all tools can run
concurrently with the FrameScope's traffic generator. Pinpoint possible
bettlenecks and weak links while the network is under load.
PROTOCOL TRACKING BY STATION OR FOR THE WHOLE NETWORK Decipher which
protocols a station uses most. For a specific station. The FramScope lists the
total number of frames per protocol type, a valuable tool when running numerous
protocols on a network.
PROBLEM SOLVING
VERIFYING NETWARE AND IP SERVER REACHABILITY AND OPERATION In Novell and
IP environments, access to the server for file storage and printer resources is
critical. Armed with the FrameScope, you can rapidly determine:
1. If the Network is experiencing errors and if so what type and the
source. 2. If the server or printer is reachable from the user's wall jack
given the current performance level of the network. 3. If there is a frame
type configuration incompatibility between the client and server.
With this information from the FrameScope, the vast majority of all Novell
and IP problems can be solved in minutes.
FrameScope quickly scans the network from the user's wall-jack to find all
local servers, in the process verifying physical, data link, and network layer
integrity of all elements in the data path as well as displaying server
configuration parameters.
DETECTING ETHERNET PHYSICAL LINK FAULTS The FrameScope immediately warns
of major link faults anywhere between the station, walljack and hub. A 10Base-T
link fault test is continuously active anytime the FrameScope is attached to the
network, instantly generating an alert when there is a problem with the physical
link.
