The CM500 is a complete installation and service SLM that fully tests
analog,digital and cable modem services. The CM500 has the power to test
cuttingedge services, such as VoIP and QoS enabled networks. Exercise both
theupstream and downstream paths with the built-in cable modem. Options allowthe
CM500 to be configured to meet your performance and network requirements,both
today and tomorrow.
As networks role out a variety of premium services there is a greater need to
qualify installations for full downstream, upstream, and digital compliance.
Digital signals work right up to the point of catastrophic failure. Why risk

premises. Only the Install Profiler provides a full range of automatic
comprehensive tests that measure the operational performance ensuring
appropriate safety margins, reducing installation time and preventing costly
callbacks.
"SMART" One-Button Tests The Install Profilers provide three test locations,
each with its' own set of programmable tests and Pass/Fail limits. Once the
tests are selected and the limits are programmed, via the PC-IP software
program, the user may select Tap Check, Ground Block Check or Set-Top Check to
initiate the automatic test routine. Cable Modem Check is available only on the
CM500 IP.
"SMART" Test Result Screens Each "SMART" test provides a simple Pass/Fail
display indicating the outcome. An overall Pass/Fail indication is displayed in
the upper left corner of the display, with individual Pass/Fail analysis of the
analog, digital and cable modem tests, depending on the model in use.
Detail Result Screens The Install Profiler can also display a summary of the
test results for each of the "SMART" tests that it performs. If enabled, easy to
interpret color bar graphs provide a summary of the measurements and the
Pass/Fail Limits on an auto-ranging scale. Detail screens are provided for each
active group of measurements (analog, digital and cable modem, coinciding with
the model in use).
Full Featured Manual SLM The Install Profiler's manual SLM mode includes a
full complement of comprehensive analog and digital measurements. The manual SLM
mode provides state-of-the-art Signal Level Meter measurement, data storage and
result analysis, making it a true "One Meter Solution," ideal for installing and
testing analog and digital drop networks.
Return Spectrum Eliminate Ingress, Noise and CPD in the return. The return
path is often the most challenging portion of the network. The Install Profiler
offers the simplest semi-automated test method for testing and troubleshooting
the return path. The Return Spectrum will measure "bursty" TDMA return signals,
intermittent ingress, noise and CPD (common path distortion) at three programmed
or user selectable frequencies. Simply set the markers and the Install Profiler
does all the work, reading out the carrier level of TDMA signals, CPD or
ingress, C/I ratio and C/N ratio.
Cable Modem Check The CM500IP includes an integrated cable modem to fully
exercise the DOCSIS/EuroDOCSIS network connection by ranging and registering
with the CMTS to test the upstream and downstream. "SMART" cable modem tests
allow "one-button' test and verification of cable modem services anywhere on the
drop. The upstream is qualified by measuring transmit level, BkER (upstream BER)
and data transfer rate. The downstream is qualified by measuring level, MER,
Pre-FEC BER, Post-FEC BER and downstream data rate. The screen displays the
Upstream and Downstream data rate and appropriate value for an RSA (if
used).
Detail Result Screens Detail screens can be accessed to view bar graphs of
the test results if the programmer has allowed access.
