Easy To Pack, Easy To Carry, And Easy To Set Up, The IPLEX Gives You Real Flexibility
Designed with the user in mind, the IPLEX’s integrated design is highly durable and based on ergonomic considerations aimed at making the use of all components as efficient as possible. Plus, all the functions you need for inspection are built right into the IPLEX so you won’t need to load yourself down with accessories and additional equipment. The result is superior portability, easy setup, and maximum versatility.

Easy towing even through tight spaces
The casters and rod handle are optimally positioned to achieve the best-possible weight balance when you’re towing the IPLEX and ensure that you can easily maneuver it through tight spaces. Since there are no side projections, you don’t have to worry about snagging it on something.

Easy rewinding of the insertion tube
When the inspection is complete, all you have to do to store the insertion tube is turn the handle on the side of the main unit. The insertion tube can be rewound quickly and easily. Since the winding handle fits into the indentation provided on the main unit, it doesn’t get in the way when the IPLEX is transported.

Protection against external impact
For superior shock resistance, the main unit’s case is made from a compound of ABS resin and polyamide designed to absorb any impact by dispersing the shock through the entire shell. All components are housed in a rugged chassis to withstand typical shocks and vibrations. Additional protection is provided by a floating-type construction that incorporates a shock absorber between the case and chassis to enable the IPLEX to be transported without packing.

“Tough Tapered Flex” tube with excellent insertability and durability
The newly designed “Tough Tapered Flex” tube assures smooth insertion and high structural strength by incorporating “Tapered Flex” technology for superior insertability and with highly durable interior construction (approx. 3 times more durable than conventional tubes). The braided exterior is made of tungsten, an especially tough material typically used in cemented carbide and heat-resistant alloy.

Single-Hand Control Of IPLEX Makes Operation Simple
With the IPLEX, high performance and advanced functions don’t come at the price of increased complexity and operational difficulty. All inspection functions are accessible directly from the compact, lightweight remote control, making possible true single-hand operation. And since the IPLEX comes with a full set of image management functions and built-in PC connectivity, it’s ready to handle all your requirements at every stage of your workflow.

Slim remote control fits in your palm
Weighing a mere 160 grams, the compact remote control incorporates all the functions required for operating the IPLEX. Two joysticks and buttons give you total control over advanced functions from tip angulation and zooming to image management data entry and more. Even when the insertion tube mount is attached to the remote control, you can still hold it in one hand, making inspection more efficient and virtually effortless.

High-precision motorized tip angulation
Angulation of the insertion tube tip is motorized for smooth operation and can be controlled with the joystick on the remote control. Driven by a high-torque motor, the wire that operates angulation is coated with special material to reduce friction and is designed to withstand twisting and warping. The motor’s precision-driving capability lets you stop the insertion tube tip exactly where you want.

Bright, high-quality images
The IPLEX incorporates our latest highsensitivity CCD to provide images with increased resolution and clarity. In combination with a 50-watt metal-halide lamp and newly designed reflector for more efficient light convergence, the result is clear, crisp images with a brighter field of view — exactly what you need for accurate inspection. The IPLEX also features a Boost mode to help you cope with particularly dark observation conditions. When activated, the Boost mode can deliver images approximately four times as bright as those produced by a conventional model.

Smooth, stepless zoom
Even when you’re zooming in on the observation target, images remain clear and stable, with no jerkiness. The stepless zoom lets you adjust magnification from 1X to 3X continuously and smoothly. A touch-sensitive lever on the remote control lets you operate the zoom with ease and precision.

Automatic brightness control
The automatic brightness control automatically optimizes the view field brightness level relative to the observation target. Brightness can also be adjusted manually.

Comparison function for easy crosschecking
Side-by-side comparison of two displays is possible on the monitor. Two combination modes — recorded freeze display and live display, and recorded freeze display and live freeze display — are available.

Convenient recording card storage
Inspection result images can be recorded directly on the dedicated recording card and transferred to a PC. When the card is full, all you have to do is erase unnecessary image files or replace it with a new card.

Moving image and voice annotation recording
In addition to still images, the recording card can also store moving images and voice annotations. On a 32-megabyte card, you can store up to 300 standard-quality still images, up to 150 standard-quality still images with 10-second voice annotations, or up to 50 seconds of moving images.

Title entry for easy categorization
Titles of up to 15 characters can be added to images using the remote control. Titles of recorded images can also be changed later on, if desired.

Four languages to choose from
On-screen messages and displays can be selected from English, French, German, or Japanese.

Versatile data management functions
You can use the convenient thumbnail function to display 9 stored images at once or locate specific images by date using the search function. There’s also a filing function that creates new folders, as well as erase, move, and copy images.

Enhanced PC connectivity
The IPLEX SA is equipped with a USB port for direct transfer of inspection data to a USB-compatible PC for storage, processing, and analysis. Remote operation of the IPLEX using the mouse of the connected PC is also possible.

Other observation functions
  • Image enhancement to emphasize outlines
  • Extended exposure for up to 500 milliseconds to enable observation of dark areas and wide cavities
  • Freeze mode to instantly obtain a still image of live display
  • Panning mode to scroll the area displayed in a zoomed-in image horizontally and vertically

The IPLEX Can Be Integrated With A PC To Streamline The Entire Workflow From Inspection To E-Mail
Installing the IPLEX MANAGER software in a PC lets you take advantage of a wide range of enhanced functions including desktop measurement of recorded images, as well as editing, management, and e-mailing of images. Combined use of the IPLEX and PC right at the inspection site is also possible. No matter what your requirements, IPLEX’s enhanced PC connectivity will contribute to much greater task efficiency.

Zoom function and annotation function
Any required part of an image can be zoomed in for close-up observation. Images can also be annotated with arrows, circles, and ellipses, as well as comments.

Image recording directly on a PC
By setting the recording destination to PC, you can record still images and still images with voice annotation directly on a PC. A convenient USB interface ensures quick, easy transfer of still images directly to the PC without requiring a separate recording medium.

Remote operation from a PC
An IPLEX control window on the screen of a PC connected to the IPLEX via a USB cable lets you operate the IPLEX at the click of a mouse. In addition to angulation, all IPLEX functions including image recording and title entry can be operated from the connected PC.

Stereo measurement on a PC screen
If you download the stereo measurement image data to your PC, you can execute any of the six stereo measurement functions right on your screen. This gives you more operational flexibility by allowing you to concentrate on capturing images at the inspection site, saving measurement and analysis for later on in your office.

Database management of multiple images
The folder management function enables integrated management of inspection results as well as images captured by a digital camera and scanner. Building an inspection database is a snap thanks to various functions that allow you to record inspection details, search required files quickly, and align thumbnail images for easier comparison and reference.

Editing and printing reports
The template creation function of IPLEX MANAGER makes it easy to create your own report formats. You can also combine different formats to create professional and comprehensive reports.

Sending inspection data and reports by e-mail
All you have to do to send images and reports is start up the e-mail function and attach a file to an e-mail message. If the recipient’s PC has IPLEX MANAGER installed, they can take advantage of the stereo measurement setups attached to the image data to easily re-measure of images.

Reality-Oriented 3D Images You Can Almost Touch

With 3D imaging, you’re no longer restricted to observing a flat twodimensional representation of the inspection area. Instead, you’ll be right there, as if you yourself were at the tip of the insertion tube. Olympus’s innovative 3D Eye-Trek makes possible at-a-glance confirmation of the surface conditions of damaged sections such as burns and scorches. It also makes it easier to determine whether a surface is convex or concave, rusty or dirty, and so on. And because 3D images make it easier to get a sense of distance, you’ll find that scope insertion and access to the inspection site goes much more smoothly. Integrating Olympus’s optical technology, stereo measurement technology, and digital technology, the 3D Eye-Trek lets you take a virtual tour of the interior of any inspection site.

The 3D Eye-Trek control unit can be switched easily between the 2D and 3D modes as required — for example, when 3D observation isn’t necessary or when you have to operate the menu in stereo measurement.
