EXFO FCD-10A Fiber Clip On Device
The FCD-10A Fiber Clip-on Device is a temporary coupler used to connect a fiber-optic instrument to a 250-µm singlemode fiber when access to the fiber end is not possible. It essentially consists of a bidirectional coupler. Light is injected in and collected from the fiber by way of a grating, bending the fiber to tap the signal. This process does not damage the fiber. Best results are obtained with clear-coated fibers.

The FCD-10A Fiber Clip-on Device has many applications in testing and communication when access to the fiber end is not possible.

The device is used to gain acess to the signal for connection to test equipment, for instsnace near a splice tray. It is also used to inject signals into a fiber which terminates in a receiver or to gain voice communication from any point along the fiber via a fiber talk set.

A clipping action is applied by a high-precision, radial movement and carefully controlled by a smooth damping mechanism. The new tabletop casing provides high stability on any flat surface and the non-slip feet increase the unit's resistance to accidental, uncontrolled motion. The wider, more accessible opening makes the FCD-10A easier to clean and smiplifies fiber placement.
