The EXFO EtherCHK1-10G 10GE Ethernet Tester is a portable instrument for installing, verifying, and troubleshooting Ethernet services. It tests connections from 10 megabits per second to 10 gigabits per second, helping technicians confirm that a network delivers its expected performance.

The tester supports copper Ethernet through an RJ45 connection at 10/100/1000 Mbps and optical Ethernet through SFP/SFP+ interfaces up to 10 Gbps. This allows technicians to check different network connections using suitable transceivers.

Its main testing tools include RFC 2544 and EtherSAM, EXFO’s implementation of the ITU-T Y.1564 service activation methodology. These evaluate performance measures such as throughput, delay, frame loss, and packet jitter, helping verify that services meet agreed requirements.

The EtherCHK1-10G also generates and monitors test traffic and performs bit-error-rate testing with EtherBERT. Remote discovery and Smart Loopback help a technician test an entire connection using compatible equipment at the opposite end.

An eight-inch color touchscreen provides controls, results, and pass/fail indicators. The tester can save configurations and generate PDF or HTML reports for customers and maintenance records.
