Exfo FTB-Lite 720D Single Mode OTDR

The EXFO FTB-Lite 720D Single Mode OTDR is a portable optical time-domain reflectometer designed to test and troubleshoot singlemode fiber-optic networks. It helps technicians verify new installations, assess existing connections and locate faults in telecommunications and access networks.

The instrument sends light pulses into a fiber and measures the light that returns through backscatter and reflections. It produces a trace showing how the fiber performs over distance, allowing technicians to locate connectors, splices, breaks and areas of excessive signal loss. These measurements help identify where repairs or further inspection are needed.

The included Optical Link Mapper automatically interprets traces and presents detected events as recognizable icons. It displays overall fiber length, link loss and optical return loss, with pass-or-fail results based on selected limits. Suitable configurations also support testing through PON splitters and filtered 1650 nm troubleshooting of active fibers.

An eight-inch sunlight-readable touchscreen makes results accessible during fieldwork, while its rechargeable battery provides up to ten hours of operation, depending on use. EXFO Exchange connectivity supports uploading results, sharing measurements and preparing reports, helping teams document fiber condition and completed testing.
