Fitel S185LDF Large Diameter Cladding Fusion Splicer
The FITEL S185LDF is a fusion splicer designed to join large-diameter optical fibers. It supports fibers with cladding diameters from 80 to 500 µm, making it suitable for fiber-laser work as well as other specialty fiber applications.
The splicer aligns prepared fiber ends and fuses them together to create a permanent connection with low optical loss. It can handle several fiber types, including single-mode, multimode, erbium-doped, and large-diameter fiber. Gently closing clamps help protect delicate fibers during setup.
Its compact body and color touchscreen make it practical for both production work and maintenance at a jobsite. Operators can view magnified fiber images, choose splice programs, and save splice records. An optional built-in battery allows use away from an AC outlet.
The S185LDF also includes a heater for compatible splice-protection sleeves. For teams working with specialty fibers, its adjustable programs, precise alignment, and record storage provide a repeatable way to make and document fiber connections.
