Flir A500f Advanced Smart Sensor Thermal Imager
The FLIR A500f Advanced Smart Sensor is a fixed-mount thermal imaging camera designed to monitor equipment and areas continuously. It measures temperature without touching the target, helping operators spot unusual heat before it leads to equipment failure or a fire. FLIR lists condition monitoring and early fire detection as its main uses.
The camera produces thermal images that show temperature differences across a scene. Its 464 × 348-pixel infrared detector can monitor assets such as electrical components, machinery, and stored materials. Available lens options let an installer choose a wider view of an area or a narrower view of a specific asset.
The A500f analyzes measurements within the camera and can trigger an alarm when a monitored temperature crosses a set threshold. This lets a facility respond to a developing hot spot without relying on someone to watch the video continuously. FLIR cites waste facilities, where stored material may heat unexpectedly, and electrical substations as typical applications.
For use in an automated system, the A500f can send measurement results and alarms over a network. It supports industrial connections including Modbus TCP, MQTT, and digital inputs and outputs, as well as ONVIF-S integration with video management systems. Operators can use these connections to bring thermal alerts into existing monitoring and control workflows.
The camera is housed in an IP67-rated enclosure for demanding outdoor or industrial installations and can be powered through an appropriate Power over Ethernet connection. Once installed and configured, it provides ongoing temperature monitoring so maintenance and safety teams can investigate problems early and protect critical assets.
