Combining multiple test capabilities with unprecedented levels of field modularity, the JDSU T-BERD MTS-8000 is a scalable field platform for provisioning and maintaining short-haul, long-haul, FTTx, Metro, CWDM, transport, data and DWDM networks.
The optical time domain reflectometer (OTDR) is at the core of fiber optic characterization. Allowing measurement of fiber link attenuation, attenuation coefficient, reflection, splice/connector loss, and point of error, all as part of the fiber distance function.

Its ruggedness and optional battery power and control connectivity can withstand the most diverse test conditions. With capabilities designed for carrier Ethernet packet transport, long haul, and metro-core networks, as well as government telecommunication centers, the module represents the latest innovation for the family of award-winning, industry-leading T-BERD MTS test solutions. These elements combine to provide the right test tool for achieving quicker execution and easier mobility, especially during service activation and troubleshooting. The module integrates native pluggable optics support for both the C form-factor plug-ables (CFP) applicable to 40 and 100 G line rates and the quad small form-factor plug-ables (QSFP+) applicable to 40 G line rates. It also provides clocking options for synchronous Ethernet and optical transport networks (OTNs) based on internal, recovered, and external clock SMA selections.
The TB/MTS 8000 Transport module also enables technicians to test two routes between the same origination point and the same termination point. If a customer is experiencing different delays on two parallel routes, the TB/MTS 8000 can be used to establish two VLAN or IP connections, with different tags and user priorities on each port, to a remote site. This test setup allows for verification of the round trip delay (RTD) on each path independently to determine if the delay is the same on both routes, and to verify/compare the delay on the two different routes.
The T-BERD MTS-8000 Transport Module answers the call by providing the most complete Metro test solution on the market, including advanced features for Layer 4 and above application-centric testing, IPTV testing, and Fiber Channel (FC) testing up to 10 Gb/s.
