Keysight  N9917A FieldFox

The Agilent/Keysight N9917A FieldFox is a handheld RF and microwave analyzer designed for testing cables, antennas, and related equipment in the field. Its cable and antenna measurements cover frequencies from 30 kHz to 18 GHz, making it useful for installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting work.

The N9917A measures return loss and voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) to show how well a cable or antenna system is matched. Technicians can use these readings to identify problems such as damaged connectors, poor terminations, or antenna faults.

Its distance-to-fault measurement helps locate problems along a cable run. Instead of showing only that a cable has a fault, the FieldFox can indicate where a significant reflection occurs, helping technicians narrow down the section that needs inspection or repair.

Depending on the options installed, the N9917A can also perform vector network analyzer and spectrum analyzer measurements. These capabilities allow users to examine how RF components respond across frequency and investigate signals or interference at a site.

The FieldFox combines these measurements in a portable, battery-powered instrument built for field use. The exact functions available on a particular N9917A depend on its installed options, so its option list should be checked when describing or selling an individual unit.

Features:

  • 30 kHz to 18 GHz cable and antenna measurement range
  • Return loss and VSWR measurements for checking cable and antenna matching
  • Distance-to-fault measurement to help locate cable problems
  • Portable, battery-powered design for field work
  • QuickCal calibration feature
  • Optional vector network analyzer measurements, including S-parameters
  • Optional spectrum analyzer for examining RF signals and interference
  • Optional built-in power meter and other measurement functions
