 Konica Minolta LS-160 Luminance Meter

The Konica Minolta LS-160 Luminance Meter is a portable instrument that measures the brightness of light emitted or reflected by a surface. It provides numerical luminance readings in candelas per square meter (cd/m²), also called nits. These measurements help users evaluate displays, illuminated signs, lamps, and other visible surfaces.

The LS-160 has a narrow 1/3-degree measuring angle, allowing it to isolate a small area of a target. Its single-lens reflex viewfinder shows the measurement area so the operator can aim precisely. Optional close-up lenses allow measurements of areas as small as 0.4 mm in diameter.

Its sensor has a spectral response designed to closely match the human eye’s sensitivity to visible light. This helps its readings correlate with perceived brightness. The LS-160 measures luminance from 0.01 to 9,999,000 cd/m², accommodating both dim surfaces and very bright sources.

The meter supports individual readings, maximum and minimum measurements, and comparisons expressed as luminance differences or ratios. These functions help users evaluate brightness variation and compare a target with a reference. Automatic measurement timing adjusts to the target’s brightness, while internal memory stores results for later review.

Its battery-powered design and pistol grip make the LS-160 suitable for laboratory and field measurements, including display evaluation and road or tunnel brightness assessment. A USB connection and supplied utility software support computer control and data handling, helping users document results during development, quality control, and lighting evaluations.

Features:

  • 1/3° measuring angle for targeting small areas.
