Megger DLRO100HB Digital Low Resistance Ohmmeter
The Megger DLRO100HB is a digital low resistance ohmmeter, also called a micro-ohmmeter. It measures very small amounts of electrical resistance that an ordinary multimeter may not resolve clearly. It does this by applying a high DC test current—up to about 100 A—and measuring the voltage across the connection being tested.
Technicians use the DLRO100HB to check electrical connections that should have very little resistance. Common examples include circuit breaker contacts, switchgear, busbar joints, cable connections, and bonding conductors. An unusually high reading can point to a poor connection, wear, or corrosion that needs further investigation.
The HB version can run from either its rechargeable lithium-ion battery or an AC supply, making it useful in substations and other locations where mains power may be inconvenient. Megger states that a charged battery can support up to 200 individual tests under its specified conditions. The instrument also has high noise immunity to help produce stable readings in electrically noisy environments.
For circuit breaker work, the DLRO100HB provides a smooth DC output and supports Megger’s DualGround method when used with the appropriate optional clamp. This allows resistance testing while both sides of the breaker remain grounded. Its rugged case is rated IP54 with the lid open, and its test terminals carry a CAT IV 600 V safety rating.
The DLRO100HB can store results for later review or USB download. It also adds Bluetooth connectivity, remote operation, and asset tagging to help organize measurements by the equipment tested. In short, it helps electrical maintenance teams verify the condition of critical low-resistance connections and keep a record of their tests.
