Megger MEG10-01 10KV Insulation Resistance Tester
The Megger MEG10-01 is a high-voltage insulation resistance tester used to assess the condition of electrical insulation. It applies a controlled DC voltage and measures how much current leaks through the insulation. The resulting resistance reading helps technicians identify insulation that may be deteriorating or contaminated.
The instrument offers five test voltages: 500 V, 1 kV, 2.5 kV, 5 kV, and 10 kV. This range makes it suitable for testing a variety of electrical equipment, including power cables, motors, transformers, and switchgear. Its digital and analog-style displays let the user view the resistance reading during a test.
In addition to a standard insulation resistance measurement, the MEG10-01 can perform a timed polarization index (PI) test. A PI test compares resistance readings taken at different times, providing another way to evaluate insulation condition. A guard terminal helps reduce the effect of surface leakage when a more focused measurement is needed.
The MEG10-01 can run from its rechargeable battery or an AC supply, and it includes a timer for controlled tests. Results can be stored in the instrument and transferred to a computer through its RS-232 connection. After testing, the instrument automatically discharges the connected item, making it a practical tool for documenting insulation checks and investigating suspected insulation faults.
