Megger MIT1015 Essential 10kV Insulation Resistance Tester
The Megger MIT1015 Essential is a portable 10 kV insulation resistance tester used to assess the condition of electrical insulation. Technicians use it on equipment such as motors, transformers, cables, and switchgear to help identify insulation that may have deteriorated before it causes a failure.
The tester applies a selected DC test voltage of up to 10 kV and measures how strongly the insulation resists current flow. Its insulation resistance reading helps technicians check an asset during installation, routine maintenance, or troubleshooting. Results can also be compared with earlier tests to look for changes over time.
Beyond a basic insulation resistance test, the MIT1015 performs dielectric absorption ratio (DAR) and polarization index (PI) tests. These timed measurements provide more information about insulation behavior than a single reading. Megger’s PI Predictor feature can estimate a PI result sooner when technicians need to test several assets.
The MIT1015 is built for field work, with a rugged case and protection against dust and water when its lid is closed. Its guard terminal helps reduce the effect of surface leakage on measurements. Megger also includes live-circuit detection and a RE>Act mode that monitors residual current after a test, helping technicians judge when the insulation is ready to retest.
As an Essential model, the MIT1015 focuses on the core tests needed for routine insulation checks. It does not include onboard result storage or data export, so readings must be recorded separately if a test history is required.
