Megger MIT1025/2 Advanced 10kV Insulation Resistance Tester

The Megger MIT1025/2 Advanced 10 kV Insulation Resistance Tester is a portable instrument used to assess the insulation in electrical equipment, including transformers, motors, generators, switchgear, and cables. Engineers and maintenance technicians use it during installation, routine inspections, and repair checks to evaluate insulation condition and support maintenance decisions.

The tester applies a controlled DC voltage and measures the small current flowing through the insulation to calculate its resistance. Its maximum test voltage is 10,000 volts, with preset options of 500, 1,000, 2,500, 5,000, and 10,000 volts. It measures resistance up to 20 teraohms, allowing technicians to assess even highly resistive insulation.

Beyond a basic resistance reading, the MIT1025/2 provides polarization index, dielectric absorption ratio, dielectric discharge, step-voltage, and ramp tests. These examine how insulation responds over time or as voltage changes. It also supports polarization/depolarization current testing with software, providing further insight into moisture, contamination, and aging.

Two distinctive features help make testing faster and more dependable. PI Predictor estimates the polarization index before the full test finishes, while RE>Act monitors residual reabsorption current to indicate when insulation is ready for another test. Its guard terminal helps reduce measurement errors from unwanted leakage, and noise rejection supports testing in electrically noisy environments.

Designed for field work, the MIT1025/2 operates from a rechargeable battery or AC supply and includes a protective case, backlit display, and onboard storage for dated test results. USB connectivity and optional Bluetooth enable results to be transferred to PowerDB or CertSuite for reporting and comparison over time. Voltage warnings and discharge monitoring also support safer testing.

Features:

  • Up to 10 kV DC test voltage, with preset settings of 500 V, 1 kV, 2.5 kV, 5 kV, and 10 kV.
  • Insulation resistance measurement up to 20 TΩ for testing highly resistive insulation.
  • Advanced diagnostic tests: timed insulation resistance, polarization index (PI), dielectric absorption ratio (DAR), dielectric discharge (DD), step voltage, and ramp testing. PDC testing is supported with software.
  • PI Predictor, which estimates the polarization index early to shorten testing time.
  • RE>Act mode, which monitors residual reabsorption current to help determine when equipment is ready for retesting.
  • High-performance guard terminal to reduce errors caused by surface leakage current.
  • Up to 6 mA noise rejection for more reliable measurements around electrical interference.
  • Built-in memory with date and time stamps for saving and reviewing results.
  • USB connectivity and optional Bluetooth, with support for PowerDB and CertSuite reporting software.
  • Rechargeable lithium-ion battery or AC operation, with approximately 4.5 hours of typical continuous testing at 10 kV under the specified load.
  • Backlit color display and rugged protective case
  • Safety features, including CAT IV 600 V rating, voltage warnings, locking lead connections, and automatic discharge.
