The Megger S1-568/2 Expert Digital Insulation Resistance Tester is a portable 5 kV insulation tester used to assess the condition of insulation in electrical equipment. It supports testing of assets such as cables, motors, transformers, and switchgear, helping technicians identify deterioration and plan maintenance before insulation problems lead to equipment failure.
The tester applies a controlled DC voltage and measures the resulting current to calculate insulation resistance. Its selectable output current reaches 6 mA, helping charge capacitive equipment such as long cables. Battery and AC operation allow it to support both field inspections and extended testing sessions.
Designed for electrically noisy environments, the S1-568/2 provides 8 mA noise immunity and an adaptive filter that suppresses interference. These capabilities help produce stable measurements in substations and other locations where induced electrical noise can make insulation testing difficult.
Its diagnostic functions include timed insulation resistance, polarization index, dielectric absorption ratio, dielectric discharge, ramp testing, and polarization/depolarization current testing. PI Predictor can shorten polarization-index testing, while RE>Act checks residual reabsorption current to help determine when insulation is ready for another measurement.
A backlit color display and rotary controls simplify setup and viewing results. Stored measurements can be transferred through USB or Bluetooth, and wired USB remote control allows operation from a distance.
