Megger TTRU1 Advanced Handheld Turns Ratiometer

The Megger TTRU1 Advanced Handheld Turns Ratiometer is a portable, battery-powered instrument used to check transformer winding ratios and polarity. It helps technicians assess distribution, power, and instrument transformers during installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Its handheld design makes it convenient for testing in the field and in workshops.

The instrument applies an electrical test signal to one transformer winding and measures the voltage response on another to determine the turns ratio. Comparing this measurement with the expected ratio helps identify incorrect connections, tap-setting errors, and possible winding problems. It also measures excitation current and checks whether winding polarity is additive or subtractive.

The Advanced model simplifies setup with color-coded test leads and on-screen connection diagrams, including guidance for testing three-phase transformers one phase at a time. Users can save frequently used transformer configurations and winding voltages, reducing repetitive data entry. Its bright color display presents measurements and pass/fail ratio evaluations clearly.

Rechargeable NiMH AA batteries and USB-C charging support portable operation, with approximately 1,000 turns-ratio tests available per charge. Results are saved automatically and can be exported through a USB drive for reporting and recordkeeping. These capabilities help maintenance teams document transformer condition and compare results over time.

Features:

  • Transformer turns-ratio testing for power, distribution, and instrument transformers.
  • Polarity detection to identify additive or subtractive winding connections.
  • Excitation-current measurement to help investigate transformer problems.
  • Pass/fail ratio evaluation for quick interpretation of results.
