Pruftechnik ShaftAlign OS3 Laser Alignment Tool

The PRUFTECHNIK SHAFTALIGN OS3 Laser Alignment Tool is a portable precision instrument used to align the shafts of connected rotating machines. It helps technicians position motors, pumps, fans, compressors, and gearboxes so their shaft centerlines line up correctly. Proper alignment helps reduce vibration, component wear, and unnecessary mechanical stress.

The system uses single-laser technology with a sensor and reflector mounted on the shafts or couplings. As the shafts rotate through measurement positions, the instrument calculates angular and offset misalignment. Its Active Clock measurement mode automatically accounts for the sensor’s rotational position, helping technicians collect accurate alignment readings.

After measurement, SHAFTALIGN OS3 displays the direction and amount of correction needed at the machine feet. Technicians use this information to move the machine horizontally or add and remove shims for vertical adjustment. The Live Move function displays changing alignment values during adjustments, allowing users to monitor their progress.

The instrument also includes a soft foot check to identify machine feet that do not sit evenly on the base. Its TolChek function evaluates alignment against tolerances based on machine speed or user-defined limits. These functions help technicians correct mounting problems and determine whether the final alignment is acceptable.

SHAFTALIGN OS3 can save measurement files and export PDF reports to a USB memory stick, providing records of the equipment’s alignment condition. Bluetooth communication transfers readings between the sensor and handheld computer. Used during installation, repairs, and routine maintenance, the system helps technicians complete alignment work consistently and document the results.

Features:

  • Single-laser technology — simplifies setup and shaft alignment measurements.
  • Active Clock measurement — automatically accounts for the sensor’s rotational position.
  • Angular and offset measurement — identifies both types of shaft misalignment.
  • Live Move guidance — displays horizontal or vertical corrections during adjustment.
  • Soft foot check — identifies uneven support beneath machine feet.
  • TolChek tolerance evaluation — assesses alignment using machine speed or user-defined limits.
  • InfiniRange technology — extends the detector’s measurement range for large misalignment.
  • Bluetooth communication — transfers measurements wirelessly to the handheld computer.
  • Guided workflow — leads users through dimensions, measurement, and results.
  • Machine position swap — switches the displayed positions of the stationary and movable machines.
  • Internal file storage — saves alignment measurements.
  • PDF report export — saves reports to a USB memory stick.
  • Automatic save and resume — helps protect measurement data.
  • Optional SWEEP measurement — collects multiple readings with as little as 60° of shaft rotation.
