Viavi OneExpert Fiber ONX-700 Multi-Gig Fiber & Ethernet Service Tester
The VIAVI OneExpert Fiber ONX-700 is a handheld test instrument for installing, activating, and troubleshooting broadband service. Technicians use it to check whether a fiber connection and the services delivered over it are working as expected. It brings optical, Ethernet, and Wi-Fi testing into one field tool.
On fiber networks, the ONX-700 can measure optical power and check passive optical network (PON) connections. Its tests help a technician verify signal levels, identify the connected network equipment, and investigate problems that could prevent a customer’s service from working. Available capabilities vary by the instrument’s installed hardware and options.
The tester can also validate data performance over fiber and Ethernet connections at speeds up to 10 Gbps. For compatible setups, it can test Wi-Fi 7 service delivery as well. This helps a technician determine whether a problem is in the incoming fiber connection, the wired network, or the customer’s wireless connection.
VIAVI’s automated OneCheck workflows guide the technician through a set of tests and present clear pass or fail results. Test records can be saved and shared through VIAVI’s connected reporting tools, helping teams document installations and review repeat faults without relying solely on handwritten notes.
The ONX-700 is built for daily field use, with a rugged enclosure, rechargeable battery, and modular design. Its purpose is to make multi-gigabit service activation and fault finding faster and more consistent, from the fiber connection through to the customer’s network.
Features:
- Tests fiber, Ethernet, and Wi-Fi 7 service performance, with throughput testing up to 10 Gbps.
- Measures optical power to help verify fiber signal levels.
- Supports GPON and XGS-PON service checks, including PON identification and connection validation.
- Offers OneCheck automated tests with clear pass or fail results.
- Supports TruePON checks for optical loss, power levels, and connection to the expected network equipment.
- Can use a visual fault locator and fiber inspection tools to help find connection problems.
- Saves geotagged test results and supports reporting through VIAVI StrataSync.
- Has a rugged IP54-rated enclosure and a rechargeable, field-replaceable battery.
- Uses a modular design, so capabilities depend on the installed configuration and options.
