Vivax Metrotech VLoc3-Cam Sonde Locator w/ Loc3-5Tx 5 Watt Transmitter
Vivax Metrotech vLoc3-CAM Sonde Locator
The easiest, quickest and most accurate way to locate the position of a sonde is found in the vLoc3-Cam Sonde Locator. The bright full-color intuitive graphical display guides the user to the sonde using directional arrows. When directly on top of the sonde a large sonde icon appears confirming the sonde location and it's depth reading is confirmed.
The vLoc3-Cam includes multiple sonde frequencies making it compatible with the major push cameras and crawler cameras on the market. The Pushrod Trace mode shows a second display geared for tracing the path of the pushrod deployed in the pipe or tracing pipes with an optional portable transmitter.
The vLoc3-Cam comes with two Passive locate modes of Power and Radio which will detect the presence of live power lines, CATV, telephone and some metallic pipes which radiate 50/60 Hz from nearby or overhead power lines. For active locating, with the use of a portable transmitter, the vLoc3-Cam comes with an 83.1kHz frequency for tracing the pushrod. This frequency is also ideal for water and gas utilities which generally are larger pipes with bell housings and gaskets, as well as locating small diameter drop wires and inducing signals through the soil, onto services when direct connecting is not an option.
Features
- 360 Degree Guidance arrows
- Sonde locate and pushrod trace modes
- High visibility color 4.3"/10cm Display
- Locate utilities with option transmitter
- Optional Bluetooth connectivity
Vivax Metrotech Loc3-5Tx 5 Watt Transmitter
The 5-Watt broadband transmitter has selectable induction and direct connection frequencies from 98Hz to 200kHz, SD mode (Signal Direction), fault find and true resistance measurement up to 1 Mohm. The two inch by one-inch dot matrix display with LED backlight shows output current, connection type, volts, resistance, frequency, volume, battery condition and high voltage warnings.
The optional Transmitter Link (Tx-Link) installed in the receiver and transmitter, remote operation of the transmitter from the receiver is possible. The range of the radio transmitter link depends on having a clear “line of sight” between receiver and transmitter but is typically around 300m /985 ft. Signal Direction (SD) mode feature verifies if the line being located is the target that the transmitter is connected to.
When a transmitter is connected to a target line, the signal travels along it and finds the easiest way to travel back, usually via the ground and ground stake. However, very often the signal will travel back along adjacent utilities which offer an easier route. As a result, there can be multiple signals radiating from utilities in the area making it difficult to identify the target line. These return signals are typically traveling in the opposite direction than the applied signal. The Signal Direction feature identifies which direction the signal is flowing and hence the target line.
Packaged in a lightweight, rugged, ergonomic IP54 housing, the transmitter provides consistent current output in direct connect, clamp or induction modes and protection against inadvertent connection to incoming voltages up to 240V.
