Westover FM-DI100 Fiber Microscope
All Westover Field Microscopes are hand-held inspection tools that will provide years of service, true optical performance, and laser safety. Their design incorporates an LED for illumination that provides 100,000 hrs. of lamp life and optimizes battery life.
The DI series is a dual-illumination microscope that includes both coaxial and oblique illumination. The coaxial setting is used for the highest level of image detail; oblique illumination shows only major defects and contaminants, which prevents over-polishing.
Coaxial illumination, which provides the most critical view of fiber end-faces, renders scratches highly visible and is the clear choice for field termination in sensitive installations.
In oblique illumination, the white LED light is bended to hit the core at an angle, making any contamination and debris readily visible. Furthermore, faint scratches are not as easily seen using this method. A technician can therefore polish to a no higher loss level without being tempted to over-polish the end-face.
Easily changeable adapters are available for any type of connector. The rubber boot provides a slip-resistant grip, while a built-in laser safety filter provides a high level of attenuation at the most common laser wavelengths in case of accidental viewing.
